Xena is a retired green beret, and is currently an SAC for the FBI. Because of her childhood and past, part of it being while she was between foster homes the Police chief in in her small town many, many years ago beat her and raped her, getting her pregnant at the age of 12.
The town was so keen to cover up the assault that they gave her a property and a home, the only conditions being that she had an adult living with her, and because she was terrified of losing her son she went a long with it even though her brother had started abusing her, he told her that it was all her fault and began to rape and abuse her on a daily basis because he

She was nearly seventeen when she threw him out and had her cousin and her cousins two children move into her home.As soon as Xena was old enough, she went away. She left her son and house in her cousins care.
She trained, all she did was eat, briefly sleep and train every single day. By the end of it Xena was lethal. A weapon, the governments weapon, her superiors pride and joy. They noticed her potential and without hesitation moved her into a different program and trained her to be a killing machine. All of the hatred and anger from years of rape abuse had been channeled into her training.
When she returned, she had changed. She was not a child anymore and she was incredibly focused.The following week was the first time she killed in cold blood, she tracked down her brother who was living in a junkie hovel, She wanted to talk to him, possibly beat him. But when she walked in on him on top of an unconscious young teenager who was covered in bruises and blood on a mattress on the floor. She murdered him. She didn’t attack him, oh no. He was so wrapped up in raping the unconscious teenage girl that he didn’t hear her.(The Police Chief is deceased due to her son who was a teenager at the time, murdering him in a sudden and gruesome manner when he came to their home and tried to take him away. Xena and her son have never discussed the incident since it occurred.)••Because of her past… Xena has a propensity to murder criminals that she deems evil, eg: pedophiles, rapists, child traffickers. And she has used her work to facilitate tracking such people down.••She also has an estranged (not so much any more) twin sister Darcy Budd @SgtDarcyBudd, Darcy was adopted out and for many years was angry at Xena because she thought her sister had abandoned her.————————
She ended up involved with Gemma Teller @EvilBikerQueen (This is when Gemma was with Nero) after detaining her due to an incident with Rodrigo Sanchèz and his girlfriend.
Xena was initially there with her team to arrest just Sanchéz and his girlfriend but Gemma had managed to get into an altercation with the two of them.
Their “relationship” was tumultuous and complicated affair because both her and Gemma are completely damaged, complex and fucked up people. That and this is Xena’s first sexual/romantic/whatever the hell it is with someone and first time being intimately close to another human being. She has been celibate her whole life, and barring the rapes and abuse she experienced as a child and teenager, she has had no sexual contact with anyone prior to Gemma.

They became close after working together in Charming and some child killer trying to murder her. This is much to the dismay of Alex Drake who has had a couple of run ins with June.••• Xena’s best friend is Alex Drake @AudaciousDI. They trained together, served together, went to war together and have disposed of many a body together. Their relationship is very, very complex. Both women have been through things together that no person should. Alex Drake is presently a Detective and up until recently had been living in the UK.••• She has a weird relationship with Jane Rizzoli @IJUSTWANTCOFFEE from Boston Homocide (BPD) they’ve worked together on a few unpleasant cases and they now get along really well even though they clashed in the beginning.••• Xena has worked with and served the UK’s Home Secretary @LavenderOnMove at her estranged twin sisters @SgtDarcyBudd’s request. They became reasonably close friends.
